National Junior Honor Society's Annual Food Drive - Operation Backpack

Through the months of February and March, students at Hollenbeck Middle School participated in the National Junior Honor Society’s second-annual food drive, Operation Backpack. In collaboration with Operation Food Search and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, students and staff came together to fill backpacks with food for needy children. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honor society of international women educators. The Operation Backpack program provides nutritious food to children every weekend throughout the academic year for the Cities of St. Louis and St. Charles. Students and staff at Hollenbeck were able to provide nearly 700 food items to needy children.

“Our students understand that there are others who are very less fortunate,” said NJHS coordinator, Alan Beeson. “With this in mind, they made it their priority to provide for children just like them.”

The following chart is a list of the teachers who have collected food items and their totals. Congratulations to Stephanie Mantle and Marc Crawford for receiving the highest in donations.
