Hollenbeck Middle School’s annual toy drive for the Salvation Army was an overwhelming success this year. During the holiday season it’s easy to take for granted all the people and things in our lives, but Hollenbeck Middle students not only appreciate their blessings, they want to share them with those who are less fortunate. As a result, students and staff filled four barrels with toys, which will be distributed to families in need in the St. Charles area.
This annual event took place from December 1 through 16, with Hollenbeck’s National Junior Honor Society students coordinating the collection. The goal of the toy drive was to fill three large barrels, but the students, families, and staff went above and beyond in the true spirit of the season.
The students, families, and staff at Hollenbeck Middle prove that it doesn’t take an army to improve the lives of those around us. It just takes a little drive from some charitable people.
