Principal's Message:

Dear Hollenbeck Students and Parents

Last year our school focused on four building-wide goals which addressed student achievement, attendance, behavior, and climate.  We experienced positive growth in various areas under three of these goals with the exception of attendance which declined slightly.

Our building goals for 2011-12 will continue to focus on these four areas.  I anticipate that this year we will see significant growth in all four areas through our collective efforts.  Hollenbeck goals for 2011-2012 are:

Achievement

Hollenbeck’s overall CA and MA MPI will meet the AYP benchmarks in 6 out of 10 subgroups by Y, S, SC, or CI in 2011-2012.

Attendance

Hollenbeck attendance will increase to 95.8% or higher for the 2011-12 school year.

Discipline:

During the 2011-12 school year, Hollenbeck will reduce the number of overall disciplinary incidents by 15% as compared to incidents in 2010-11.

Climate:

By the end of 2011-12, Hollenbeck will receive feedback from students, parents, and staff indicating positive growth in the areas of safety, sense of belonging, and parent involvement by 5% in all areas as compared to previous year’s data.

Again, I am confident that through our collective efforts we will meet and/or surpass our 2011-12 goals.

I’m looking forward to meeting our new sixth grade students at schedule pick-up and at 6th grade Transition Day on August 4th.  If you have not written this date on your calendar please add it to your summer activities.  On this date incoming sixth graders rule the school!  Students get to meet their teachers, participate in preparatory activities, and make new student connections.

I hope that you and your family have a relaxing and enjoyable summer.  Enjoy this time with your family and I’ll see you in August.

Sincerely,

Woody Borgschulte, Principal
